Gray Barker Book of Saucers (Audible Audio Edition) Gray Barker Mark Barnard New Saucerian Books

This book covers primarily reported incidents of 1963, but was not published until late1965. The reason, according to Gray Barker in this book is that he had financial problems, which had now been straightened out, and he was now "ready to go into high hear with 'saucer publishing.'"

There is plenty of interesting stuff here. There is a chapter on the Antonio Villas Boas case, complete with entertaining illustrations by Gene Duplantier. Barker's source, he says, was a Brazilian UFO periodical Sociedade Brasileira Des Estudos Sobre Discos. He speculates as to whether it was a biological experiment to create an alien-human hybrid, or alternatively, whether it was a case of a wealthy woman from another planet "footing the bill and looking for interplanetary 'kicks.'"

He also covers the visit of James Moseley to Wright-Patterson AFB for a tour by Project Blue Book head Col. Robert Friend, and of Moseley's findings there, e.g. the presence of a "USAF Foreign Technology Division" and that Col. Friend or any of his other officers personally reinvestigated 2% of the UFO reports at his disposal, who are sent out to areas where the reported sightings took place, and also that aeronautical, photographic and chemical laboratories were used by his staff. Elsewhere in the book there is an alleged reproduction from an Air Force Intelligence manual AFM 300-3 dating from 1953 included featuring a drawing of a plane next to a UFO that had the caption, "The Air Technical Intelligence center is responsible for the prevention of technological surprise."

The is a chapter on cases of alien abduction occurring in Brazil, drawing on the research of Olavo Fontes. In one case a diamond prospector stated to colleagues that he had seen two people three feet high digging a hole in the ground near his home. After he had spotted them they ran into bushes, then the prospector said he saw a red glowing hat shaped object shoot into the sky. Shortly afterwards, the man's son reported to police that two strange ball like objects kidnapped his father late at night. All police found was a patch of ground that was clear of dust where the incident occurred and a few drops of blood 150 feet away.

Other chapters contain subjects such as the findings of Russian scientist on the apparent artificiality of the Martian moons Phobos and Deimos and the case of Gloria Lee, who Barker says, "died after a long 66 day fast which she carried out on the instructions of the Jupiterian mentor," which contradicts information given in the preface of the 1974 reprint of her book Why We Are Here.

There are plenty of sighting reports, taken from various amateur UFO publications and some local newspapers, including a case of reported calf-napping by aliens and a case from Australia where a UFO reportedly swooped down near a cowshed, causing the cows to almost turn somersaults and a horse to rear up in panic. Barker reprints a question and answer session with the farmer in which he reveals the interest of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation and the Australian Air Force in the matter. Barker also includes details of a sighting by UFO author Jerome Clark, then head of NJAAP's contact claims division, who says it took a terrific amount of willpower to continue looking at the craft and that he felt as though something did not want him to see it.

In the final chapter, Barker relates some of the findings of Gordon Evans, "a top management consultant in New York" on the subject of life on Mars. Evans states that there was a mysterious rectangular area at the bottom of a Mariner IV photo. In the same chapter, there is a photo of a woman called Mary Robinson with a Ouija Board. Barker states that she received words of warning for Flying Saucers and the Three Men author Albert Bender: "Warn him! Warn him! Warn him three men in black have returned." As to the motivation of the reported men in black, Barker states that "Men in Black, through repression, fear and superstition, try to rob us of our spiritual heritage."

Overall, a surprisingly entertaining book.
